"Thoughtful" passage...

MEMORIES
I long for peace of yesteryear
When life at times stood still
With chance to think and be at ease
To do things at one’s will.

Roads were clear with traffic sparse
Time to walk at leisure
Fields of green without a brick
Life really was a pleasure

Collecting driftwood from the shore
To burn on open fire
Smell the seaweed soaked in brine
Were things to never tire

To breathe the unpolluted air
Walk on pastures new
The song of birds was joy to hear
But now these things are few

Life hurries by today I fear
Days go speeding past
But memories are here to stay
They do not fade they last.

"Thoughtful" passage...

BROKEN CHAIN OF THOUGHT

The sea breeze caressed my face
I tasted salt upon my lips
Saw squealing, swooping seagulls
Searching in anticipation for food
From fishing trawlers returning
Home with their catch
I watched the flowing tide
As it slowly covered the sand
Saw pebbles as they were gently washed
Glistening like diamonds in the sunlight
My feet tingled at the thought of cold water
Trickling through my toes
Saw children collecting seaweed on the shore
Left by the ebbing and flowing tides
My fingers touched the tyres of my wheelchair –
My train of thought was broken
It was time for me to leave the shore
With my innermost thoughts unspoken.

"Thoughtful" passage...

COUNTRY THOUGHTS
I never cease to wonder
At the many shades of green
Fields of grass and wooded copse
Make such a pleasant scene

The wild life hides convincingly
With subtle camouflage
Squirrels darting here and there
These sights are free of charge

A quiet moment to reflect
Watch nature in the wild
The peace of rural countryside
Is there for man and child.

The changing seasons all bring forth
A multitude of things
To please the eye and soothe the brow
Of citizens and kings

Let’s treasure all our heritage
Preserve some land to roam
Leave room for us to wander
Round this isle we call our home.

"Thoughtful" passage...

My good friends Albert and Joyce
FRIENDS

Life would be hard without friends
To guide us on our way
Someone to talk to in times of stress
And help us cope with each day.

A gentle hand when things get tough
Exchanging points of view
A smile, a touch, a listening ear,
Gives strength to think anew.

A worry can increase in size
The longer we have it around
But when discussed it seems much less
And peace of mind is found.

The answer in the end is ours
But opinions help the strain
Problems can be solved in time
And sharing eases pain.

Friends are true and mean a lot
They are there in times of need
But if by chance positions change
We can return their deed.
