Thoughtful passage

THE SAILING SHIP

A Sailing Ship is leaving

Going I know not where

I imagine far off places

To visit and to share.

I observe a restful picture

As it heads right out to sea

Leaving its trail in the water

As if to say “I’m free”.

I so wish I was on board

With the wind upon my face

Listening to the ripples

And moving at the ships own pace.

Watching scudding clouds above me

See Seagulls swooping by

The peace and the tranquillity

Gives such pleasure to my eye.

Perhaps one day I too will sail

To visit lands anew

But in the meantime I’m content

To sit on the shore and just view.

Thoughtful passage

THROUGH CLOSED EYES

I close my eyes and listen
The sounds of life are there
The trickling sound of water
Bird song for all to share.

The clicking of the garden gate
Footsteps fast approaching
I hold my breath and hope to hear
The door-bell loudly ringing.

I close my eyes and listen
Hear the howl of winds outside
Rain drops falling rapidly
These sounds I hear with pride.

Children playing in the park
Their playful noise to hear
I recall my own young life of play
As I wipe away a tear.

I close my eyes and listen
Hear the clock strike five
I give thanks for yet another day
It’s so good to be alive.

SHIRLEY'S HUMOUR PASSAGE

SWEET TOOTH

Oh dear I do love chocolate
I eat it by the pound
Hard or soft centres
Whatever can be found?

Mars bars, Maltezers
I relish every bite
I really cannot get enough
I eat them in the night

I go to bed and dream
Of that lovely welcome flavour
The very thought wakes me up
And I dive for more to savour.

I would eat chocolate for breakfast
Lunch and even dinner
White, Milk or extra dark
Every one’s a winner

Caramel, Praline, Nougat and Nuts
Every one’s a tasty snack
So I munch away from morn till night
And dive for another pack.

My waist has got a bigger size
My clothes no longer fit
But I will go on snacking
For another week and a bit!

For another week and a bit!

Thoughtful passage

A NEW YEAR
A New Year dawns we know not what it brings
We hope health and happiness with other things,
We wish for peace and all wars to cease
As each year flies by on wings.

We phone our friends to wish them well
Listen to news they have to tell
Some will be sad some will be glad
But it’s good to give them a bell.

We don’t know what’s in store
All we can do is hope for
Life without pain, and not too much rain
Friendship and love evermore.

This greeting for you
Is sincere, honest, and true
It’s from the start right from the heart
And is for every year that is new.

So I’ll say once again to you all
Go out and have a great ball
For we haven’t a clue what things are due
So enjoy life before things fall.
