Thoughtful passage

DAFFODILS

The daffodils are a breath of spring

As good a sight as bird on wing

Their yellow faces seem to say

We’re here at last to make your day.

They grow in groups amongst the grass

Giving joy to all that pass

Standing tall heads held high

Reaching up towards the sky.

They dance and sway in the breeze

As if to say “look at us please”

They surely help me to smile

And forget my problems for a while.

Those elegant blooms so tall and so bright

Provide passers-by with a glorious sight

The various species too many to mention

But all attract our complete attention.

Yes when they appear on road side and banks

I close my eyes and give up thanks

For there is still beauty to behold

And that spring is starting to unfold.

SHIRLEY'S HUMOUR PASSAGE

THE ODD JOB MAN

The Odd Job Man comes and goes

Where he comes from no-body knows

He has so many talents with which to shout

So whatever the problem he helps us out

He can repair a fuse, mend a leaking tap

He really is such a helpful chap

Whatever the problem he’s able to cope

So instead of despair he gives us hope.

It could be a door come off its hinge

Now that’s enough to make anyone whinge!

It might be the woodwork looks a bit grim

So out comes the paint-brush courtesy of HIM.

As one job gets done another appears

But the Odd Job Man comes to allay our fears

He tackles the problem large or small

He really is a blessing and needed by us all.

To be able to cope with so many things

And all the problems these happenings brings

He has to be special with patience and tact

Because we can’t do without HIM and that’s a true fact.
