A DAY AT THE SEASIDE
I took my little bucket and spade along with me
Sandcastles I made galore and holes so big and deep
I piled the sand around me into a great big heap
A union jack I put on top, it made it look so grand
But all of a sudden I could spy more sea than land.
The sea was swirling round me like a castaway, I felt
I could see my lovely sandcastles all begin to melt
The water soon did trickle around my toes and feet
So I began to run to shore, the coming tide to beat
Oh I was so happy to see my mother and my dad
And I just didn’t understand why they were very mad.
I had a look around me and saw that very near
Jutting out towards the sea I spied a super pier
First I saw the big wheel turning round and round
Then some roundabouts and swings and even more I found
Fruit machines, shooting ducks and many games to play
Oh I really did enjoy a simply lovely day.
There were lollipops and ice cream. Rock and sugar mice
Post cards and windmills and other things so nice
At last it was the end of my wonderful day out
I didn’t want to go home so I began to shout
So mum and dad said “stop that noise”, we don’t want any fuss”
And soon I was homeward bound in a bumpy country bus.
