"Thoughtful" passage

FORGOTTEN STANDARDS

I can remember not that long ago
People were happy NOT full of woe
They would lend a hand let you sit while they stand
Politeness to all they would show.

But today there’s no time
To hear a clock chime
To offer a smile only once in a while
And close their eyes to this rhyme.

Not long ago we used to care
Our neighbour’s welfare we would share
But I’m sad to say that in present day
These acts of kindness are rare.

There will come a day whatever our creed
When we will all welcome a helpful deed
So let’s open our heart and really start
To see what others may need.

If we do kind acts these will show
A pathway for others to go
So before you pass by don’t close an eye
Let your cup of kindness flow.
