"Thoughtfull passage"

MY CHAIR

I sit in my chair cat on lap
I wait to hear my letter box flap
I hope to get news and hear others views
And try my best not to nap.

I sit in my chair and think of the past
I have memories that will always hold fast
Times of good cheer I hold very dear
These things will stay and forever last.

I sit in my chair warm and snug
Round my knees I have a warm rug
I would like to talk or go for a walk
But often just long for a hug.

I sit in my chair with time to recall
Hear my grandfather clock chime in the hall
The days pass by some slow and some fly
Before I know spring has turned to fall.

I sit in my chair my thoughts are my own
I realise how much my faith has grown
I know it’s a must for us to trust
Those who much kindness have shown.

I sit in my chair and know it is best
To have lived my life and now have rest
To have good neighbours giving their labours
To enable me to stay in my very own nest.
